In June 2012, Maroon 5 released their fourth studio album, Overexposed and, to illustrate the material, the group chose Young And Sick, that also worked on the art for Foster The People’s “Torches”.

Maroon 5 Brazil did a quick interview with the designer, where he talks about the art direction for Overexposed, check it out:

Tell us a bit about yourself…
I’m a musician/Illustrator/Art-director from the future.

How was the approach for the job?
After I did the art for Foster The People, they went on tour and ended up sharing the stage with Maroon 5. And as words travel, I was chosen to do the art for Maroon 5’s new album.

What is the concept behind “Overexposed”‘s artwork?
There simply is none. It’s pure freedom. I started drawing, and didn’t stop until the page was full. To my surprise, the band liked it from the first draft. After a couple small edits, Overexposed had a face.

How was the creative process?
I did the draft on an A3 piece of paper at a friends house in Amsterdam. I then took it back to London to scan and color in photoshop and illustrator.

Have you heard the album? What’s your favorite track?
Yes, I always listen to the music I make art for. My favorite song is titled “Sad”.
